Only the River Flows in Amsterdam XD

Sooo I was going to watch Only the River Flows on the Spanish streaming site I mentioned previously, but I looked up the movie again and it turns out it's playing at an Asian film festival in Amsterdam next week!

I bought tickets and I'm excited to go - this will be the first Zhu Yilong movie I see on an actual movie screen. Which seems especially fitting for this one (it was shot on film and in chronological order, apparently. What a rare experience that must be for an actor.)

OH YAY you get to see it on the big screen! i found it much less absorbing/enveloping on my laptop, so you are absolutely doing the right thing. it's amazing.

It's the second one I'm going to see, because I saw Lost in the Stars at a festival last year - and Only the River Flows has a German theatrical release, as you know. Which was last Thursday, and I'm going to see it on Tuesday! \o/

Eyy, I'm happy to hear that, I hope you have an anamzing time! Yeah, Germany has been MUCH more on the ball when it comes to showing Z1L movies, and I hope other countries will follow their example.

They haven't really. :/

The only other movie that I got to see was Lost in the Stars, and it was as part of a horror film festival, with exactly one screening in my city.

None of his other movies ever got a German theatrical release. The River Flows was the first one, and I suspect it was solely due to Wei Shujun's Cannes connections.

Oh, I thought that - blanking on title, the chinese railway story - got a german release as well, but I must be conflating it with something in the US. But I'm glad you got to see LitS for that one screening, that must have been fun!

Oh, you're right. I had been hoping that Cloudy Mountain would get a release, but then what happened was that it ran for one week in two Berlin theaters, and that was it. It did get dubbed only for that? O_O

I think mumble got to see it, but I'm nowhere near Berlin, so I didn't.

But I'm glad you got to see LitS for that one screening, that must have been fun!

It was! The line of people was very long, and it was almost sold out - the festival organizers were pretty baffled. :D
